Frequency Response
Frequency response services allow NESO to maintain a stable grid by keeping the frequency of the system at 50Hz (+/-0.5Hz).
This can be provided through:
- Dynamic Response
- Non-Dynamic Response
The Dynamic services shown in the Response income page are:
| Service | Response Time (s) | Duration (minutes) | Pre / Post Fault |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dynamic Regulation | 10 | <= 60 | Pre-fault |
| Dynamic Moderation | 1 | <= 30 | Pre-fault |
| Dynamic Containment | 1 | <= 15 | Post-fault |
High response (e.g. DCH) provides response when frequency is above the target range. Low response (e.g. DCL) provides response when frequency is below the target range.
Decreasing frequency requires reducing generation / increasing demand. Increasing frequency requires increasing generation / decreasing demand.
